Chisinau is considered one of the greenest cities in europe. Chestnuts, maples, limes and others are planted along streets and boulevards of Chisinau. The capital residents are proud of its gorgeous 19 parks. The most famous and favorite are Central Cathedral Park, Stefan cel Mare Park, Mills Valley Park, Dendrarium Park and the Botanic Garden.
This park is located in the heart of the city near the main square of Chisinau. Here you can admire a few historical monuments such as the Arch of Triumph, Belfry and the cathedral itself. These are considered the symbols of Chisinau. Throughout the year various cultural events, concerts, exhibitions and festivals are organized around this park.
This park is one of the oldest parks in the city in Chisinau founded in 1818. The park has seven entries with the main entrance at the crossroads of Banulescu Bodoni street and Stefan cel Mare Boulevard. This entrance is renowned for the majestic monument of Moldova’s greatest ruler Stefan the Great, hence the naming of the park.
The Stefan cel Mare Park houses over 50 trees and shrubs species. A special place in this park is dedicated to the most famous historians, poets and writers of the Moldovan people. This special place is called the "Alley of Classics".
This huge park is connecting the city center with the Buiucani district of Chisinau. This park can be reached with the mini buses 127, 104 or 129. It is a popular leisure destination for the locals with rich in diversity vegetation and occupies an area of 1 square kilometer.
The park is attractive by picturesque lake and waterfall. Visitors come to have long relaxing walks, running around the lake, photography and even fishing. During summer it is possible to rent boats to sail over the lake. The lake even has a small beach with volleyball courts and cafes. Swimming is banned, so do not get tempted to do so even if you see some brave locals going for a dive. Instead the amusement park will let you enjoy various carousels, go karting and shooting stations.
Dendrarium Park is an excellent place for those who like walking. It is clean preserved and demonstrates a large variety of trees and flowers. It is beautiful all year long, with vast areas of flowers and trees. Clean and attractive for families walking weekends and picnics , for a relaxed afternoon, for romantic walks and even for taking pictures in the middle of nature.
Kids could enjoy playground places and open green areas. The park has its time table; during spring and summer it opens its gates from 8:00 till 21:00 but during autumn and winter from 8:00 till- 18:00. The entrance is not for free, students must pay 2.00 mdl and 4 lei for adults, and excursion accompanied by guide costs 10.00 mdl. Located just 10 minutes from city center between streets: Ion Creanga, Vaile Lupu, Eugen Coca and Sciusev. The mini bus 193 passes that area.
